Our Philosophy
Our company adopts an individual approach to each project, creating unique properties in rural locations and small market towns.
We strongly believe in regeneration from a cultural and sustainable viewpoint. We enjoy restoring interesting and historic buildings sympathetically, and are passionate about their preservation. When we build new houses we build on previously developed land.
We take pride in the skilful and dedicated team of craftsmen who work with us. Their knowledge of materials provides the detail that gives an elusive character to our developments and we therefore believe in and encourage the training of new apprentices to acquire this knowledge.
We do not build to formats in the same way as mass house builders and believe we have a duty to respond to and respect the individuality of each conversion. This means we often create intriguing internal spaces that have character and make our properties distinctive.
The historic buildings we work with provide interesting areas that we adapt to meet modern lifestyles. We will, for example, often create a double height void rather than an additional room. Therefore spaces that may be difficult to quantify provide subliminal qualities that achieve unusual as well as comfortable homes.
The directors of Edward Blake are all personally involved in the day-to-day running of the business. Each of our projects is visited by us daily to ensure that attention to detail and our unrivalled standards are maintained throughout.
